The 10 Most Supportive Latino Husbands

It’s not a pledge one should take lightly, taking someone “to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”

Here’s a look at the 10 most supportive Latino husbands in Hollywood, men like Mark Consuelos and Freddie Prinze Jr., who’ve proven that their unconditional love don’t cost a thing.

Mark Consuelos, 42

It’s hard to believe Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa have been married 17 years. The former All My Children co-stars still look and act like newlyweds! From filling in for her co-hosts on her daytime talk show to pulling daddy duty while she’s away from home, Consuelos has been Ripa’s supportive partner since Day 1. “We have a lot of respect for each other,” said Consuelos about his relationship with the LIVE with Kelly and Michael host in an online interview. “Our children are our priority and we come from two families where both parents are still together, and we hold that in high regard. So, that's where we start from every day."

Javier Bardem, 44

He may be an international star in his own right, but Javier Bardem isn’t afraid to shower praise on his superstar wife Penelope Cruz. In an interview with GQ last year, the Skyfall star proclaimed that he’s “happily married” to the Oscar-winning actress. “I truly thank whoever’s up there for giving me the opportunity to be loved,” he added. Back in 2010, Bardem even reduced Cruz to tears while accepting an award at the Cannes Film Festival, saying: “"I share this joy with my friend, my companion, my love: Penelope: I owe you a lot and I love you so much."

Emilio Estefan, 60

It’s no wonder they’re developing a Broadway musical about their life together; Emilio and Gloria Estefan are truly the poster couple for a perfect partnership, personally and professionally. Estefan, who has been married to the Anything for You singer for nearly 40 years, credit hard work for keeping their marriage strong. “There has to be a strong foundation of love, you have to get married crazy in love, and then keep it going with respect for each other and strong communication,” said Estefan in an interview with Fox News Latino, adding, “You have to do things for the other person you wouldn’t even do for yourself, you want to please them, you want to make them happy.”

Mario Lopez

Sure, he wouldn’t have been considered a superhusband following his short-lived nuptials to actress Ali Landry in 2004. But Mario Lopez has really turned a corner. Since marrying former Broadway dancer Courtney Mazza last December, the actor and television host has been a doting husband, even sharing the spotlight with his wife on the red carpet, on television and even on photo shoots.

David Barrera

He’s guest-starred on television shows like 24, Medium, Without a Trace, Wizards of Waverly Place and Grimm. But perhaps David Barerra’s greatest role is family man, husband to actress Maria Canals Barrera and father to their two daughters. “David is a wonderful daddy to our girls. So patient, kind, fun, respectful and firm when necessary. They adore their daddy,” said the Wizards of Waverly Place actress to “I’m crazy about him, too. David has great parenting instincts and I’ve learned a lot from him.”

Freddie Prinze Jr.

Since meeting on the set of 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar have become one of Hollywood’s most successful power couple. After all, they’ve been married 10 years and are still going strong. “When we got married I was still just 26; I met Freddie when I was 23 years old," Gellar told People after the giving birth to their daughter Charlotte in 2009. "That is really young. The solid base that we have now, you don't have that when you have been with someone for two years. We have already weathered all these storms. We know this is it; we are a team."

Antonio Banderas, 52

It should come as no surprise that Melanie Griffith has a tattoo on her right arm that reads ‘Antonio’ with a heart around it; the actress adores her husband Antonio Banderas. And despite rumors last summer that the couple, who has been married since 1996, was on the verge of divorce, Banderas and Griffith seem to be going strong, celebrating Semana Santa in Spain together earlier this year. During the actress’ struggles with addiction to drugs and alcohol, Banderas has stood by her side, crediting the challenges they faced to strengthening their relationship. “I did not know she was so strong. It makes me love her even more because she fought like a lion and succeeded, which brought us even closer,” the actor told AARP magazine in 2011.

Benjamin Bratt, 49

“We’re so aligned,” professed Benjamin Bratt to People magazine in 2010 about his marriage to actress Talisa Soto, as the pair celebrated its eighth anniversary, adding “[Parenting] informs the work, enriches it. The stakes are much higher on every level. The work that you choose will draw you away from that which you care for most, your family, [and] gets a whole new scrutiny.” And the Private Practice star and Soto still seem to be going strong years later, thanks to that commitment to putting family first.

9. husbands slide 09

Kevin Alejandro, 37

In recent years Kevin Alejandro has seen his star rise in Hollywood, appearing in high-profile roles on shows like Ugly Betty, Southland and True Blood. But the Mexican American actor hasn’t let his success go to his head. He’s still a devoted husband and father. “I spend a lot time with my family. It’s a great feeling,” Alejandro told Indonesia’s DA Man magazine back in 2011. “When we’re together, nothing else exists. We unwind each other, I guess.”

Juanes, 40

Earlier this year, Juanes released his memoir, Chasing the Sun, where he opened up his life until now, including the marriage troubles with his wife Karen Martinez. Following the couple’s temporary separation back in May 2009, Juanes has returned to the family a better man. "We have a great friendship, a big love that's still alive," said Juanes in a 2007 interview with NY Daily News. "We're back together again. It makes me feel happy and calm, although the process was hard."  The Colombian singer says the key to his newfound happiness is the family routine. "I can go to parents' day at [son] Dante's school and sit with the kids and the teachers and the other parents and see what a day is like for him,” says Juanes in a recent interview. “Go to church with [daughters] Luna and Paloma. I can help them with their homework. We can go to the movies or sit down together for lunch or breakfast. Things that are so simple and so important."
