Mary Miranda The Voice NBC

Mary Miranda stole viewers’ hearts last week on The Voice with her rousing rendition of Selena’s “Como La Flor.” With the The Voice’s battle rounds beginning tonight, Miranda looks forward to gaining more fans on her way to the top of competition. Here, she talks to Latina.com about her music idols, Selena and Michael Jackson, her Voice coach, Shakira, and her Cuba travel tips for Jay-Z...

Emilio Estefan

Latin music would not be what it is today without the contributions of a select group of innovators who have been bringing down walls and paving roads where none existed. With his multiple awards, accolades, and collaborations that would take pages to name, Emilio Estefan Jr., is one of those select few, and we in Miami are proud to claim him as our own.

So it's fitting that when it came time to unveil his revolutionary Sound Machine by Monster Headphones, set to hit Target stores and...

Shakira during the blind auditions on The Voice

Blind auditions are officially over on The Voice and it looks like Team Shakira may have it in the bag. The Colombian pop star picked her final 12th member on last night’s episode, but not without battling with Usher over Luke Edgemon first.

The contestant from North Carolina sang a soulful rendition of “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” which had us at home thinking the R&B crooner would snatch it, but Shaki delivered a headstrong pitch that Edgemon just couldn’t...

Mary Miranda performs on The Voice

The story on The Voice last night wasn’t about Shakira (yet she was involved). The brightest performance of the night came via Havana, Cuba-born Mary Miranda. Before the teenaged Miranda took the stage she told her story—and boy was it a weeper. She came to Albuquerque from Cuba, she was teased in school and her dad lives in Barcelona. Her one reminder of him she wears -- a necklace he gave her.

Miranda, who already has a pop star-worthy name, then stormed the stage with a beautiful...

Kate McKinnon as Shakira on The Voice on Saturday Night Live

Who caught Saturday Night Live this past weekend? If so, then you noticed Shakira’s accent was made fun of. In a spoof targeted at The Voice, actress/comedienne Kate McKinnon poked fun of the Colombian superstar, who as the world knows by now is a new judge on the show.

We did our best to write how McKinnon sounded in the skit – see the following quote: “Casey...

Shakira and Antonio de la Rua

We all know the saying, breaking up is hard to do. Pero, it has been especially hard for these Latino celebrities! Take Shakira for example; she's fighting a lawsuit filed by her ex Antonio de la Rua; he claims that she owed him some big bucks - $100 million to be exact. We won't spoil the juice (see the blurb below), but it looks as though Shaki isn't the only one with...

Monique Abbadie performs during blind auditions on The Voice

Last night The Voice featured one of the most Latino moments on network TV ever. Let us explain. Cuban American singer, Monique Abbadie, a former child performer on Sabado Gigante (yes, that Sabado Gigante) sang Shakira’s “Loca.” Abbadie’s rendition of Shak’s song was, on some notes, better than the original. The result: all four judges hit their buttons. The young singer squealed out an “Ay Dios mio!” Shakira’s fellow judges knew which team Abbadie, who as a pre-teen had taken a picture with Shakira after one of her concerts, was going to...

Cathia from NBC's The Voice

Night two of The Voice premiere found Shakira snagging another singer and breaking out in her native tongue, Spanish. The night’s first singer, Tawyna Reynolds, seemed poised for a spot on Team Blake but Shak stole this one from the country star. She even busted out her “English to Country” dictionary and said, “I reckon that you want to join Team Shakira.” Reynolds went with Shak which Blake Shelton to Tweet, “I reckon @Shakira just kicked our country ass...

Shakira Picks Rocker, Crooner Over Latina on 'The Voice'

Shakira made a respectable debut as a judge on The Voice last night on NBC. The petite Colombian superstar held her own within the boys club (Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Usher) even going as far as mimicking Usher’s flirtatious ways when vying for a singer. She was concise in her praise and quick with her comebacks.

Shak turned her chair around a couple of times and walked away from last night’s show with Mark Andrew who sang Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and R&B singer...

We got the chance to chat with the lovely Adrienne Bailon recently at Orgullosa's exclusive “Skirts Only” fashion show.

Held in New York City, the event was attended by the 29-year-old singer/actress, amiga Christina Milian and other Latina celebs, and aimed to inspire Latinas to celebrate their cultural heritage.

The stunning Bailon [who donned a bright fuschia skirt in honor of the initiative’s MUJERES CON LAS FALDAS BIEN PUESTA™ community]...
