5 Latinos Who Volunteer With Their Kids

Giving back is an important lesson we should all learn... and it's an important lesson to teach to our kids. There's many good reasons to volunteer with your children: it enhances their ability to empathize with others, it keeps them from growing spoiled, and it allows them to step back and appreciate how much they have.

From Marc Anthony to Gisele, these Latinos make it a point to volunteer with their children:

1. Marc Anthony

We asked Marc Anthony if his children were involved with his charity Maestro Cares, and he told us that his niños have spent time at his orphanages and plan to dedicate their summer to the cause. "It's important for them to see that not everyone is as fortunate as we are," he said. "It was extremely impactful. It impacted them to the point that they still talk about it."

2. Matt Damon & Luciana Barroso

Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, think its extremely important to teach children the power of giving back. Damon, the co-founder of Water.org, said loves to get his four girls involved with his charity work. "I'm looking forward to sharing the work with my family," he said. "I think it's a really valuable opportunity to learn and curate your own passions for giving back at an early age."

3. Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba, the co-founder of The Honest Company, started early when it came to getting her daughters, Honor and Haven, involved with charity work. "I talk to Honor about not wasting and recycling. I talk to her about having so many things, and that there are children out there who don't have what she has," she told People"So, when she is done playing with something or outgrows something, it goes to a baby who doesn't have it."

4. Mario Lopez

Wow! Mario Lopez started exposing his children to charity work early! For his daughter's first birthday, Lopez collaborated with MyRegistry.com to donate her gifts to troubled youth. In leiu of presents, little Gia asked fans, friends, and family to donate a couple of dollars to the Community Youth Athletic Center. "Gia and I are thankful to be working with MyRegistry.com," he said. "We are excited to celebrate her birthday in this extra special way." We hope Gia continues to give back as she gets older!

5. Gisele Bündchen

Gisele is pretty obsessed with her family and charity, so it makes sense that she would combine the two passions. On her son's first birthday, Gisele took him to an extra special celebration: a charity event for disease prevention in Africa. Along with Tom Brady's sister, Nancy, Gisele and baby Benjamin were able to raise $250,000 for the charity, Accordia. "Nancy's passion for funding Accordia's training program after her fellowship in Uganda is an inspiration," Gisele said. "We are blessed to have families that support each others philanthropic endeavors."
