Jennifer Lopez

Born July 24, 1969

Jennifer Lopez burst onto the Hollywood scene as a Fly Girl on the hit Fox comedy sketch show In Living Color, and gained recognition starring opposite Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes in the 1995 film Money Train—but it was her starring role in Selena (1997) that catapulted her to superstardom, making her the first Latina actress to earn $1 million for a movie role. Born and raised in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, Lopez has dominated the worlds of fashion, music, movies and fragrances for more than 10 years. She has her own production company, Nuyorican Productions, and has been ranked by Forbes as the most powerful Latina in Hollywood. Lopez has five platinum-selling albums, and is currently a judge on American Idol, alongside Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.

It's not new. Jennifer Lopez has always loved herself a headscarf (check out our favorite J. Lo headscarf moments here). But while on a recent trip to Monaco, La Lopez boldly matched her headscarf to her blue-hued maxidress, and it just about sent us over the edge. We love it!

In comedies, Jennifer Lopez exudes a mix of sweetness and goofiness that, while occasionally grating, points to a lot of potential if paired with the right project. Unfortunately, we're not sure if The Back-Up Plan, which hits theaters today, is that project.

Ironically, The Back-Up Plan tries desperately to be Apatow-edgy: The first scene features Lopez lying on her gyno’s examining table—legs spread apart, waiting for a dose of artificial insemination to sink in. Later, we're treated to a...

Motherhood clearly suits Jennifer Lopez, so much so that she chose it as the subject of her first movie since giving birth to two-year-old twins Max and Emme back in Feb. 2008. In The Back-Up Plan, in theaters Apr. 23, Lopez stars as Zoe, a pet store owner with a loudly ticking biological clock who gets artificially inseminated—and immediately thereafter meets Mr. Right (Alex O’Loughlin...
