Jennifer Lopez burst onto the Hollywood scene as a Fly Girl on the hit Fox comedy sketch show In Living Color, and gained recognition starring opposite Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes in the 1995 film Money Train—but it was her starring role in Selena (1997) that catapulted her to superstardom, making her the first Latina actress to earn $1 million for a movie role. Born and raised in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, Lopez has dominated the worlds of fashion, music, movies and fragrances for more than 10 years. She has her own production company, Nuyorican Productions, and has been ranked by Forbes as the most powerful Latina in Hollywood. Lopez has five platinum-selling albums, and is currently a judge on American Idol, alongside Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.
Jennifer Lopez has canceled a controversial concert she had scheduled to celebrate the opening of a new luxury hotel in the northern part of Cyprus, which is currently under Turkish control. Lopez was supposed to be paid $3 million to perform at the Cratos Premium Hotel on July 24, which also happens to be La Lopez's 41st birthday. The pop star was planning to spend some time in Cyprus—the third largest island in the Mediterranean sea and one of it's most popular tourist destinations—along with her hubby Marc and their children.
