Cameron Diaz chatted about society's obsession with staying young in a candid interview with Orpah Winfrey.
It may seem like a non-issue: Diaz is beautiful, fit, and healthy! But, the 41-year-old actress claims that she wasn’t able to defy nature...and she’s 100% okay with that.
“Our culture is obsessed with not growing into who you were really meant to be,” Winfrey observes.
Diaz agrees. “This is true! And women don’t allow other women to age gracefully. We don’t give ourselves permission to age gracefully.”
The actress, who has previously stated she doesn't want to look like she did in her 20s, elaborated on misconceptions about growing old. “It’s almost as if we have failed if we don’t remain 25 for the rest of our lives!” she says. “Like we are failures. It’s a personal failure. Like, our fault that at 40 years old that I still don’t look like I’m 25.”
The blonde beauty boldly admits, “I wasn’t able to defy nature!”
We love that Cameron is spreading such a positive message about beauty and aging! Do you agree with her comments?
