According to Matthew McConaughey, the moment he saw Camila Alves, he knew he would spend the rest of his life with her.
On an episode of Inside The Actors Studio, the Academy Award winner shocked his wife when he admitted it was love at first sight. He recalled the first moment he saw the Brazilian beauty,
“I didn’t say, ‘Who is that?’ I said, ‘What is that?' I was like, ‘Woo-ha! Wow!’”
The gorgeous couple have been together since 2006, and married in 2012.
Jessica Alba told Cosmopolitan that she felt an instant connection with Cash Warren.
She told the magazine, “Right after I met [Cash], I called my best friend and was like, ‘I met this guy and I feel like I’ve known him forever and I’m going to know him for the rest of my life.’”
She was right! The couple dated for four years before getting married in 2008.
For Melanie Griffith, it was love at first sight when she met sexy Spanish actor Antonio Banderas. “I got weak in the knees, and my heart beat really fast,” she said. “I said something really stupid, but I can’t remember what.”
Banderas agrees that there were sparks from the very start. He told Hello Magazine that the first time he spotted her was as the 60th Academy Awards in 1988, when Griffith was nominated for Working Girl. “As soon as I got out of the car, I saw her,” he said. “I didn’t recognize her because at that time I hadn’t seen the movie... I asked, ‘Who is that beautiful woman?’ She was gorgeous. She had a cream coloured dress with pearls on it. I’ll remember that my entire life.”
The two began dating in 1995, after shooting the flick Two Much together. They married in May of 1996.
Spanish-British heartthrob Douglas Booth can’t speak from personal experience, but he certainly believes love at first sight is possible.
The actor, who played Romeo in the big screen reboot of Romeo and Juliet
, told Refinery 29,
“I mean, love at first sight is definitely possible. For me, I’ve met some of the most beautiful women in the world, and they’re not the most attractive people I’ve met. Beauty comes from within.”
For actress Sophia Adella Hernandez and husband Derek Luke, it only took one look to seal the deal. Luke told The Morning Call that when he saw her in a California bar, it was love at first sight. “She’s not only been through the whole thing with me, she is the whole thing,” he said. “She’s not surprised about my new career. The first night I met her, she kept calling me, ‘The Star.’”
The pair have been married since 1998.
Ok, so maybe it didn’t quite pan out for Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, but Anthony insist it was love at first sight.
He told The Talk, “I first met Jennifer backstage at the Capeman. I was on Broadway doing a Paul Simon musical, and she brought her dad for Father’s Day. It was utterly embarrassing because something happened. She walked in, and I was just like, ‘You are my wife and you don’t even know it.’”
He was right -- Jenny From The Block was his future wife! Sadly, the two divorced in 2012 after eight years of marriage.
When Michael Bublé first met his Argentinian wife, Luisana Lopilato, he was smitten. She, however, thought he was gay.
Bublé, who didn’t speak a word of Spanish, chased after the Latina beauty for months. On the night they met, he tracked down at interpreter at the party. Lopilato recalls the night, “As I left the party, he said to me, ‘You are my wife, you just don’t know it yet.’ And I said, ‘Of course you want me to be your wife, every man wants to marry me, so we will have to see!’”
His hard work paid off! In 2011, Lopilato walked down the aisle and became Mrs. Bublé!
Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon have spoken openly about how quickly their relationship progressed.
“In our minds, it was a love at first sight thing,” Cannon told People while in the Bahamas on his honeymoon with Carey. “Since we’ve been together, we’ve been inseparable. I don’t think anyone realized what we already knew -- that we were going to get married.”
The lovebirds dated for six weeks before tying the knot, and have been together for six years.
Shakira is obviously head-over-heels for her Spanish beau, Gerard Piqué, but does she believe in love at first sight?
“Yes,” she told Ryan Seacrest. “It is a tough question. You feel that there is an avalanche coming when you meet the right person. I think love is something that you have to work on and it develops over experience and time. Love is a practice.”
