Shakira’s latest steamy music video with Rihanna has everyone talking: some people love the sensual scenes, but others are less thrilled by the sexualized content.
In fact, one Colombian councilman denounced the video via Twitter, saying it was “SIMPLY DISGUSTING” and an “unabashed glorification of lesbianism.” The councilman, Marco Fidel Ramirez, even campaigned online to get Colombia’s national television authority to ban the music video on the grounds that was immoral and promoted lesbianism and tobacco consumption.
So, what does the superstar think about that? Shakira talked about the councilman's campaign at a recent press conference held prior to the opening of her organization's, Fundación Pies Descalzos, newest school.
“In a country like ours where there are so many needs: a health system that needs to be improved, an education system that needs to be expanded, employment that needs to be generated -- for a councilman to use his voice and his time to talk about a video by an artist like me means that we’re not doing too well councilman-wise, right?” Shakira told the press, according to The Huffington Post.
It seems her fans agree! The music video has racked up an impressive 154 million views since it was released in late January.
ZING! Sounds like Shakira put this councilman in his place. Do you agree with her?
