Say it ain't so!
Shakira will not be returning to her judge's chair on NBC's popular singing competition, The Voice. The Colombiana confirmed the sad news to reporters, saying her busy schedule will make it difficult for her to return to the eighth season in 2015.
"This was always a temporary thing for me to do. For now, no, I don't have any plans of coming back," she said.
The 37-year-old rock star gave birth to her first child, Milan, last January, and dropped her 10th studio album, Shakira, in March. The singer admitted she just doesn't have the time to do it all anymore. "Honestly, I've had a blast," Shakira said. "But right now, I have to go on with my life as an artist. I'm not really a TV celebrity and I have to prep a tour and also do other stuff, like being a mother."
There is hope, though! Shakira said that she definitely would consider returning to the judging seat one day. "You never know," she said.
This news comes just weeks after Christina Aguilera confirmed she would not be returning to judge the seventh season of The Voice. The singer, who's currently pregnant with baby no. 2, is being replaced by No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani, who will be joined by fellow newcomer Pharrell Williams. Judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are expected to return for both the seventh and eighth seasons.
