The pizza man who delivered a hot meal to the 86th Academy Awards walked away with a hefty tip.
Edgar Martirosyan, the owner of Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzerie in West Hollywood, pulled up to his six-table restaurant Monday afternoon and said his big moments in the spotlight translated into a financial boom for his business.
“I didn’t know. It was a big surprise for me,” Martirosyan told The New York Daily News.
“They told me I’m going to deliver pizzas for writers, and then when I went there, Ellen [DeGeneres] came out and told me, ‘Just follow me,’” he recalled. “When I was going, I realized I’m on the stage, and I just went... I wasn’t nervous. I was cool. I was shocked. I didn’t know what was going on.”
In addition to some one-on-one time with the stars (and their pizza!), Martirosyan received the money collected by Ellen in Pharrell's hat. Although the talk show host announced that it was $600, Martirosyan said it totaled closer to $1000.
