Mónica Spear, who won Miss Venezuela in 2004, died tragically late last night, according to The Huffington Post.

Police reports state that Spear, 29, was driving with her ex-husband, Thomas Henry Berry, and their 5-year-old daughter along a highway in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, when their car broke down. Two unknown assailants took advantage of this opportunity and approached the vehicle in an attempt to steal it.

Spear and Berry were then shot and killed by the armed robbers, and their daughter was injured by a bullet to the leg, police said.

Spear was currently living in Miami and was expected to return home this week.

The 29-year-old's Pasión Prohibida costar, Jencarlos Canela, mourned the loss of Spear via Twitter.

"I'm without words," Canela tweeted. "I will miss my friend @MonicaSpear. And I love you, beautiful Maya. You are not alone!"

We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and send out our sincerest condolences.
