Puerto Rican Comedian Luis Raul Martinez Dies

Puerto Rican comedian and actor Luis Raúl Martínez has died at the age of 51.

According to the Associated Press, Martínez passed away on Sunday of complications from pneumonia. He had been hospitalized since mid-January.

Fellow Boricuas Ricky Martin and Amaury Nolasco mourned the loss of Martínez via Twitter.

"Very sad about the news. It's very sad. Luis Raúl, fly high my brother," Martin wrote.

"I just heard the sad news that I have lost a great friend – a brother. I imagine that God has called you so that you can bring him laughter," Tweeted Nolasco.

Martínez was best known for his hilarious stand-up routines and unforgettable characters, including an elderly pot-smoking woman he dubbed Doña Mary Jane.

The comedian also hosted Univision's Anda P'al Cará from 2001 to 2003 and Telemundo's Pa' Que Te Lo Goces in 2006.
