Like mother, like daughter!
Lourdes Leon officially enrolled as a freshman at the University of Michigan, US Weekly reports. Her mother, Madonna, attended the Ann Arbor university in the late 1970s.
The 17-year-old, who will graduate from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City, registered in the undergraduate music, theatre, and dance program at the university. The teenager, who currently operates her own fashion line called Material Girl, will pursue a bachelor's degree in fine arts in musical theater. Leon chose to register under her nickname "Lola."
Although Madonna never graduated from the midwest university, she praised the college and admitted she wanted her daughter to attend. "I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place," she said in 2012.
Last November, the pop star and her daughter toured the college before Leon made her final decision. Earlier this month, they returned to the campus, and Madonna shared a shot of The M Den, the University of Michigan's merchandise store. "I think I'll stop in here," she captioned the photo.
Lourdes Leon recently wrote a blog post reflecting on the upcoming change in her life. "I was so excited about being done with school," she wrote. "And now that I'm actually done, I'm like clammy and sweating and nervous because.... WHAT?!?!"
Congratulations, Lourdes! What do you think of her college decision?
