'La Voz Mexico' Contestant Gibran Martiz Found Dead

The body of 22-year-old Gibran Martiz was found over the weekend following a shootout between police and suspects, reports Fox News Latino.

Martiz was kidnapped from his home in Veracruz, Mexico on January 7 by armed men wearing state police uniforms.

According to Fox News Latino, the La Voz Mexico contestant was killed by his captors before authorities arrived at the scene and later killed the criminals during the shootout.

MSN reports Martiz was being mentored by Wisin y Yandel on the show and the two paid their respects on Monday via Twitter.

"Our most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fans of Gibran. May God keep you in his glory," they wrote.
