TV Shows Orange Is The New Black, The Fosters and Brooklyn Nine-Nine Among GLAAD Award Nominees

GLAAD is an organization that has long sought to celebrate diversity in the entertainment and media industries through its annual awards show. This year, they've honored multiple Latino and Latina actresses with nominations!

GLAAD, the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender media advocacy and anti-defamation organization, announced its 130 nominees on Thursday. The winners will be chosen at the 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards, held on April 12 in Los Angeles and on May 3 in New York City.

The organization nominated several shows with a Latino influence. The Fosters, which is produced by Jennifer Lopez and stars David Lambert, Jake T. Austin, and Cierra Ramirez, was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. The show centers upon a pair of California mothers who raise their son and five adopted children together. Grey’s Anatomy, which stars Sara Ramirez as Dr. Callie Torres, was nominated for the same award.

The Outstanding Comedy Series category was particularly Latino heavy, with four out of five nominees boasting a Latino cast member. Glee, starring Naya Rivera, Modern Family, starring Sofia Vergara, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero, and Orange is the New Black, whose ensemble cast includes several Latinos, are all nominated for the award.

We're thrilled to see so much diversity among the nominees. Who do you think deserves to win?
