Demi Lovato may only be 21-years-old, but she’s already been through a lifetime’s worth of struggles.

The singer, who has recently opened up about her struggles with cocaine, alcohol, and eating disorders, wrote Staying Strong: 365 Days A Year to inspire others going through a recovery process. The book, which was released in November 2013, is a collection of inspirational quotes and daily goals.

In the audiobook edition, Lovato even delivers some of these motivational quotes herself. In an excerpt provided to People, Lovato recites a series of daily tips for the first week of February. "When we show our love, the worlds opens its arms out to us," she reads. "You get back what you put into the world. Put out positive energy, and positivity is what you'll receive."
