EXCLUSIVE: Bella Thorne Talks 'Blended,' 'Autumn Falls' & Her New Album!

Bella Thorne in Blended

Bellarinas: Are you ready to see Bella Thorne on the big screen? The former Shake It Up actress is starring opposite Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in the upcoming comedy, Blended. This is Thorne's first time appearing in a feature film, so we couldn't be more excited for her!

Filmed largely on location in South Africa, Blended follows single parents Lauren (played by Barrymore) and Jim (played by Sandler) who go on a disastrous blind date and agree they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they wind up all stuck sharing a suite for an entire week at an African safari resort!

Thorne stars as Jim's oldest daughter, Hilary -- a 15-year-old trying to emerge as a beautiful young woman, despite having a dad who calls her Larry, dresses her like a boy, and encourages her to bulk up for varsity basketball.

We spoke to the 16-year-old Cuban American actress to talk Blended, her new book, her upcoming album, boyfriend Tristan Klier, and more! Read it all in our exclusive interview below:

Let’s talk about your Blended character, Hilary. We saw the movie, and it was so funny and heartwarming. Just a real feel-good movie – we loved it!

Thank you! My character Hilary is just a girl that wants to be noticed, you know? She’s jumping out of her own skin, and she’s just dying to get out. All she really wants is for her first crush to know she’s a girl – that is not too much to ask for!

Very true. What sort of connection did you have with this character? We know that her mom passed away, and unfortunately, your dad did too. So is it safe to assume you were really able to relate to Hilary?

Of course. Those are the characters I really like playing – characters that really have a different depth to them and heart. And I think you really see that in the movie.

What was it like working with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore?

They’re exactly how you see them on-screen just off-screen. They’re so much fun and so professional. They’re like brother and sister – that’s how close they are.

Awesome! Now, Hilary she’s the oldest, but you in your family, you’re the youngest. So how was that role reversal?

I mean, not so difficult. I’ve always wanted younger siblings, so I finally have them.
