EXCLUSIVE: Angie Cepeda Talks 'A Night in Old Mexico' & Growing Up in Colombia

Born in Colombia, actress Angie Cepeda moved to Bogotá to launch a career in the one thing she was most passionate about: acting.

Cepeda is now starring alongside Robert Duvall and Jeremy Irvine in the film A Night in Old Mexico. The gorgeous 39-year-old plays Patty Wafers, a strong woman with a heart of gold, as Cepeda describes her. A Night in Old Mexico is about a rancher (Duvall) who is forced to give up his land and only home. He decides not to go quietly and instead takes his grandson on one last wild adventure in Old Mexico. Patty Wafers ends up saving them from some thugs and in turn steals his heart.

We caught up with Cepeda to get the full scoop on her character Patty Wafers and find out what it was like for her growing up in Colombia. The starlet even told us which Latina in Hollywood she admires the most!

Read it all in our exclusive interview below:

Tell us about your character Patty Wafers in A Night in Old Mexico.

Patty is a strong woman with a heart of gold. She did not have the life that she wanted to have, but she tries to maintain calm and live one day at a time. Be positive. She loves singing and wanted to be a singer in the U.S.  She wanted to have a career. So, she leaves her hometown in order to do that. But, unfortunately she can never cross the border and gets a job as a stripper because she needs the money and she gets to sing for a a few minutes right before she gets her clothes off. With no money, working at a place that she hates, and feeling very lonely, she meets Red (Robert Duvall) and Gally (Jeremy Irvine) and realizes what is really important.

In what ways were you able to relate to Patty? In what ways are you and her completely different?

Like Patty, I am away from my family, I am always traveling and left Colombia in 1997. Of course, I go to see them all the time but it is not the same. I miss them very much.I have committed to accomplish my dreams, but I would never be in the position that Patty is. When I feel that something is toxic for me, I don't waste too much thinking about what to do while I feel sad and uncomfortable, I normally make a decision fast and move on. Start again.

What do you think are some of Patty's best qualities?

I love that she has no prejudices. She sees people for what they are.
