Good news all around for Latinos on TV this week! First thing’s first: TNT has renewed Southland—starring Mexican actor, Kevin Alejandro—for a third season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The cable network has ordered 10 new episodes of the critically acclaimed series, despite the show’s mediocre ratings, and episodes will begin airing next January.
Michael Wright, head of programming for TNT called the show, “a challenging, visceral show that engages viewers with its immersive style, provocative storylines and complex characters,” and added that “these qualities have made the show a favorite among critics, and appointment viewing for an extremely loyal audience.” I have to agree. Southland is one of the best dramatic series on TV, and I’m excited about seeing it back on TNT next season!
In other news, Naya Rivera, the part-Boricua actress who guest stars as promiscuous cheerleader, Santana Lopez on FOX’s hit series, Glee, is getting promoted! According to EW.com’s Michael Ausiello, Naya will become a series regular on Glee next season. I bet her super-sexy performance during the Madonna-themed episode’s “Like a Virgin” number had something to do with it. How amazing was that?!
Excited about Southland’s renewal? Pumped about Naya’s promotion? Drop me a comment like it’s hot!
