Nadine Velazquez May Get to Keep Her Night Job!

Nadine Velazquez shouldn't put her stilettos away just yet! After My Name is Earl creator Greg Garcia blasted NBC for canceling his show a little over a week ago (and admitted that he would shop the show around in the hopes of finding Earl a new home), Variety is now reporting that cable network TBS (you know, “the Superstation”) might be interested in picking up NBC’s rejected, award-winning comedy series!
TBS, which is famous for airing reruns of every sitcom and comedy series ever written, including Earl, is in talks with Twentieth Century Fox TV about the possibility of picking up Earl for half a season (13 episodes). The logic over at TBS seems to be that Earl, a quirky half-hour comedy with a built-in fan base, would fit in beautifully with other current TBS comedies, like My Boys (which I think is hilariously unfunny), The Bill Engvall Show (snore) and 10 Items or Less (seriously, I can’t tell if this show is a commercial or an actual sitcom).
There is no doubt that the news about Earl’s chances at renewal on a new network brought a smile to Nadine Velasquez’s face this morning. After all, the sexy Puerto Rican actress (who plays a stripper with a thick Spanish accent on the show) recently told E! talk-show host Chelsea Handler that she loves wearing Catalina's sexy stripper outfits, even though she’s usually dressed in very skimpy and provocative clothing for the role. “I’m very comfortable being naked,” Nadine gushed. “It’s one of my favorite things to do.” Personally, I’m thrilled about the possibility of Earl getting picked up by TBS (we need more Latinos on TV!). However, if you’re a die-hard fan of Nadine’s voluptuous sexy stripper, don’t go lacing up your white hooker boots and putting on your hoola-hoop earrings and bikinis just yet! There’s a chance (a big chance) that the deal with TBS will not happen, cautions Variety: “The talks for new episodes are said to be in the very preliminary stages, and it’s far from certain that a deal will be reached.”
Watch Nadine talk about her Earl role on Chelsea Lately. Then tell me, are you hoping TBS picks up the show, or is it time to say good-bye to Nadine and her stripper pole? The comments are yours for the taking.
