She was delightful and sweet on Privileged, and deliciously enigmatic as the vengeful Bree Buckley on Gossip Girl. Now, JoAnna Garcia has signed on to guest star on the hit CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, TVGuide.com reports. The actress will appear in an episode called “The Window,” which will air on Dec. 7 at 8PM. She’ll play Ted’s (Josh Radnor) old college buddy Maggie, a perfect girl-next-door type “who every guy wants to marry as soon as he meets her.” (That does sound an awful lot like my girl Joanna!). TVGuide.com adds that, “So sought-after is Maggie that she’s always in a relationship, leaving Ted waiting and waiting for his shot at her…When he hears that she’s finally single, he rushes to her door in hopes that his “window of opportunity” (Hint: That’s why the episode is called “The Window”) has not lapsed.” This sounds like a long shot for Ted since Joanna, 30, is only expected to appear in this one episode of HIMYM. Still, I wish him the best of luck—after all, Joanna is way worth it!

Speaking of things that are worth it, The Hollywood Reporter says that Southland—one of the most well-reviewed shows of 2009 (and certainly one of my personal favorites)—has just been rescued by the cable network TNT after being unexpectedly canceled by NBC in early October. TNT has obtained the exclusive rights to run the six unaired episodes of Southland’s second season (the ones that were on NBC’s fall schedule before the network yanked the show out of their lineup two weeks before its premiere). THR says the network will also be airing the seven episodes from Southland’s first season. (Note: TNT will not order additional episodes of Southland until they see how the show performs).

I'm so excited that TNT has rescued this show from cancellation. Not only is it a brilliant and ambitious television series that boasts an excellent cast and some of the finest acting on television, but this news also means that our boy Kevin Alejandro, who plays Det. Nate Moreta on the show, has his job back! Look out for Southland season 2 at its new night and time, Tues, Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. on TNT.
