Hector Elizondo Returning to "Grey’s Anatomy"

Next Thursday’s episode of ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy will welcome back a familiar face—Callie Torres’s (Sara Ramirez) homophobic father, Mr. Torres (guest star Hector Elizondo).
Ew.com’s Michael Ausiello says that the Oct. 15 episode will be “a big one” for the show’s adorable Lesbian couple Callie and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw). “Elizondo is back as her gay-fearing dad and this time he’s brought backup," Ausiello writes. I wonder what that means? Will he be joined by Eduardo Verástegui ? Hmm. And yikes!

Whatever "backup" actually means, this cannot be good news for my favorite Grey's couple. The last time Mr. Torres visited Seattle Grace Hospital last season—and found out that his once hetero daughter liked girls—he gave Callie an evil ultimatum: move back to Miami or relinquish her trust fund. What a jerk! Of course, my homegirl Callie could not be bought. She decided to stay at Seattle Grace—with Arizona! I just hope she's strong enough to make the right decision twice.

It’s hard for me to watch Elizondo play a jerk on TV. I’ll always know him as the ultimate nice-guy hotel manager Barney Thompson opposite Julia Roberts in 1990's Pretty Woman. That said, I’m thrilled that Sara is going to get a chance to act out some very dramatic and emotional material on next week’s episode. She is easily one of the best actresses on Grey’s. Her moving scene following George's death a couple of weeks back gave me chills, and she's rarely given enough to do on the show.

Are you excited about Elizondo’s return to Grey’s Anatomy? Dish in the comments section.
