Si*Sé Album Coming Soon

Where in the world is Si*Sé? I recently went to see Argentine crooner Federico Aubele perform at SOB’s and was surprised that his wife and favorite backup singer, Natalia Clavier, wasn’t by his side. Instead, Carol C, vocalist of the New York band Si*Sé, joined the lanky romantic on stage. The audience, myself included, was pleasantly surprised. We still love Natalia, don’t get me wrong, but it’s always great to hear Carol C—especially since Si*Se hasn’t released anything new since their sophomore album, More Shine, back in 2005.
Being a fan of their soulful Latin electronica, I set out to investigate. And it turns out that after bouncing from one record label to another (first Luaka Bog; then Fuerte), the quintet is venturing out on its own with the forthcoming EP, Gold. There’s not a lot of information on the album out yet but I do know that it includes an awesome remake of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.” The song’s video was shot using iPhones, flip cams and point and shoot cameras at Brooklyn’s iconic Coney Island amusement park. The result is three minutes of seemingly vintage footage that makes me nostalgic for the NYC of yore. Check it out and let me know what you think:
