New Aventura: The Bachateros Are Back

Yes, it’s only Tuesday, but luckily we have new music to get us through the rest of this week. Bachata band Aventura drops their seventh album today. Titled The Last, the CD is the group’s “last full bachata album,” said frontman Anthony “Romeo” Santos, who’s been very vocal recently about crossing over as a group (and a solo artist).

If that’s the case, the quartet is definitely going for a wider audience with this latest effort, which features plenty of chart-topping artists: Ludacris and Wyclef Jean guest on a song called “Spanish Fly,” with Luda rapping in heavily accented español about his corazón. And Akon and Wisin & Yandel urbanize the single “All Up to You,” turning out a much more organic collabo.

Still, it’s Aventura’s smooth singing and tight lyrics that make this record a keeper (and perhaps even a collector’s item if it turns out to be the band’s last, as is rumored).
