Jorge Nuñez tells Latina.com that just because he was voted off American Idol this week doesn't mean the world won't be seeing—or hearing—more from him soon. "I’m going to try to pursue music, because as I’ve heard from my parents
and people in Puerto Rico, I’ve gotten great coverage there," said Nuñez. "A lot of
people already know who I am and millions of people saw me, so this is
not the end for me. This is just the start of something much bigger."

The 20-year-old singer, who says says he was dubbed Jorgito by fellow contestant Lil Rounds,
has received an outpouring of support from fans on his native turf.
"I’ve gotten lots of text messages saying lots of wonderful things.
None
of them said, 'I’m sorry.' All of them said, 'You’re going to be great,
you
have a great voice, and things are going to be great for you.'"

When
asked whether he thought being a native boricua ultimately proved to be
a disadvantage on Idol, Nuñez kept it positive. "It’s something that is really
logical. My first language is Spanish, so I’m going to do my best in
singing and and passing on emotions to people in my own
language. [But] to me it wasn’t a disadvantage. It just meant that I
needed
to work harder, and I think I did a great job."

When he says goodbye to Hollywood and finally touches down in Puerto Rico, Nuñez says the first thing he'll do is gorge on his
favorite home-cooked meal. "I really miss my people, and I really miss
my island, and I can't wait to go home and eat some mofongo."
