American Idol fans are in for a treat: Season seven alum Jason Castro is back with his signature dreadlocks, trusty guitar and an Atlantic Records album deal. The first-generation Colombian-American wowed audiences during the singing competition in 2008 with a (to quote Simon) “brilliant” rendition of the Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah,” only to be eliminated later because of his lack of professionalism. Luckily, that didn’t deter him one bit: “I was like, ‘Okay there will be other opportunities,’” he recently told EW.com. And he was right.

The blue-eyed 22-year-old has a new single, “Let’s Just Fall in Love Again,” that will literally have you falling in love with him once more. The don’t-worry-be-happy feel-good song is replete with whistling and handclaps. “Just have fun. Love life. Love each other,” is the overall message of the track, according to Castro, who is still working on the upcoming album, for which he penned most of the lyrics. And though there isn’t a release date yet for the CD, we do know that it’ll include the full version of “Hallelujah.”

Here is Castro performing the song in the Atlantic Records offices:
