Calle 13 Go Nuts
Calle 13 Go Nuts
Puerto Rican duo Calle 13 just released the video for "Fiesta de Locos," the fourth single from the pair’s latest album, Los de Atras Vienen Conmigo. The song, which imagines Residente and Visitante as a couple of mental patients, was inspired by Emir Kusturica’s Balkan gypsy-punk rock music. Filmed during a concert in Buenos Aires last year, the video captures the general revelry of the audience with a few “crazy” little moments spliced in between. Watch carefully for two women making out; a priest getting down; and a guy hugging a rooster.
I can’t wait to see if Rene brings this kind of lunacy to Los Premios MTV 2009, when he hosts the show on Oct. 15 in Los Angeles. “Participating in these awards is a tool for me to communicate in ‘living color’ what I truly feel,” the outspoken singer said. “In other words, thanks to MTV I’ll be able to tell millions of people whatever I want all at once . . . ha, ha, ha. This is the first time—and probably the last—that I will appear as host so don’t miss it.” I know I’ll be watching!
In the meantime, here’s the video for “Fiesta de Locos”—the perfect excuse to let your freak flag fly:
