I love wearing beautiful high heels when I'm going out. They make me feel tall, feminine and put together. My feet hate them, though. For my birthday this year, I was wearing some cute but very painful heels. I actually think blood may have stopped flowing to my brain for a little bit so all resources could be aimed at my toes. Once the pain started to interfere with my dancing, I gave in. I took my shoes off and danced the rest of the night barefoot. I know, I know, it was a stupid thing to do. It wasn't safe or sanitary to say the least.

I have to admit that I used to think work out clothes were oversized t-shirts and the same comfy shorts I slept in. My pajamas and work out gear even lived on the same shelf in my closet. I knew comfort when exercising was key, but I never thought I could look good, too. This all changed a few short weeks ago. I was attending a Nike Training Summit in Vancouver where I was being educated on the advancements Nike is making in female training gear for Olympic athletes and normal ladies like you and me.

I broke up with my boyfriend a week ago, and I had to see him for the first time last night at his cousin's birthday party. As much as I wanted to show up in my sweats to reflect the droopy mood I was in, I decided looking drop-dead gorgeous would be much more effective. My secret weapon came in the form of these swiss dot pantyhose ($22, stockingirl.com).

Let’s face it. Not all of us have the spare income necessary to purchase the perfect leather jacket that will keep us on trend and cozy this fall. With this Born to Run faux leather bomber ($64.99), you can get the look of a cute little leather jacket and save a cow in the process. Plus, your wallet will have nothing to beef about. What’s there to lose?

I am of the firm belief that it’s the accessories that really define a person’s style. We can all agree that a particular dress from a major retailer is cute, but it’s how we put everything together that will really set us apart. Add these colorful bangles ($65) to one of your chunky fall sweaters and show the world that you will not be ignored.

Every Halloween, I pick a costume that requires fashionable accessories so I can wear whatever I buy after the spooky holiday is over. Last year, I went as Faye Dunaway's Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde just so I could buy a cool scarf and beret! This year, I'm going to be Amelia Earhart. I already have the goggles and a white scarf, but I was in search of a jacket.

It’s almost about that time to pull your coat out from the back of the closet. If, for whatever reason, you’re not happy with what you’ve recovered (any excuse will do), overstock.com has a decent selection of coats. It's certainly not the first site that comes to mind when you think of women's fashion, but they have a lot of options at discounted prices.

Let’s face it: summer is over, and now that we’re not that obsessed with having a bikini bod, we’re probably eating a little more and working out less (like me). For some of us (like me), that means we’ll want to cover up a little more and loosen up the clothing, all while staying fashionable, of course.

The ruffle trend is really growing on me, but I proceed with caution. I know the look can go from a do to a don’t with that one additional ruffle. These round-toe ballet flats from Bakers ($30, bakersshoes.com) are a good example of how to “do” ruffles. The silver isn’t over-the-top, and the ruffles are delicate and somewhat subtle but can still add flair to your casual work or weekend look. They’re perfect for twirling around at holiday parties too.
