Red Carpet Rewind: Rachel’s top tips to getting red carpet ready

Working the red carpet like a pro takes experience and lots of practice. So it doesn’t hurt to get tips from an expert. With the launch of her fall line at Macy’s Beverly Center in Los Angeles, California, it was the perfect time to ask fashion designer Rachel Roy, who has dressed Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz, Kim Kardashian, and Emmanuelle Chiriqui, how we can glam it up like a superstar for any special night out.

Here are Rachel’s top tips to getting red carpet ready:

Love How You Look

When getting ready for a red carpet, I like to see how I’m feeling. At the end of the day, if you put something on that doesn’t make you feel good, you’re never going to look good. If it happens to be hot out but you feel good in a long-sleeve dress—wear it! Chances are you will only be outside for a short amount of time before going into a room where the climate is controlled.

A pleasant and sincere smile comes from the inside. So make sure you’re happy with how you look before heading out the door. A beautiful smile can be your best accessory.

Stick to What You Know Works

When it comes to makeup, use looks that you know already work on you. It may not be the best time to be experimental since the results could backfire.

Enlist Your Friends For Help

Many times we think we look one way in our mind but in real life it looks different. So having a friend take a photo of you will help give you a better idea of what you like.

How do you get ready for special engagements?  Are you more daring or do you keep your look more conservative?
