Deep breaths, deep breaths. Okay here's the first time I'm saying this out loud to, like, to a lot of people. I quit my corporate job! I called my boss and let him know that I would not be returning to my life in a cubicle at the end of my maternity leave. It is the scariest thing I've ever done. And it feels amazing!

You always hear a lot of talk about being daddy's little girl, but what about grandpas? The love shared between my daughters and their abuelito is something else—at the risk of sounding cheesy, I'd even say it's kind of magical.

A while back I told you how we are raising our daughters to be bilingual. Dessa is just past 2 years old now so I figured it was time for a little update. Our method is still the same and, I'm proud to say, Dessa is chatting up a storm in Spanish.

My oldest daughter is a mini-me. I look at her and I see so much of myself, from her dark eyes to her black, wavy hair to the way she's learned to roll her eyes. I think it's comforting to see yourself in your family. It's like tracing your own history in someone else's face.
When I was pregnant with Farrah, I could only really picture my second little girl looking just like Dessa. So imagine my surprise when my adorable second daughter came into this world with light brown hair and blue eyes. Yes—blue eyes. I've got my own little baby Barbie!

My husband loves to spoil his little girls. He has absolutely no problem going into Baby Gap and spending a fortune on cute clothes. So imagine my surprise when we were shopping yesterday and he put his foot down when it came to buying Dessa a certain pair of jeans. They were adorable; a light wash, not too tight, rolled at the cuff, tres chic and very trendy. You've probably seen a similar style on celebs like Katie Holmes, Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry.

I started blogging when I first became a mom. I had been researching for several months and found that I loved reading all about the experiences of other moms. It was nice to know other women went through the same emotions and funny moments, and I found myself really enjoying the shared experience that blogs highlight.

The other day my good friend confided in me that her 3 year old son has been playing with dolls. She doesn't take the dolls away, but is wondering if it's "OK." I told her that Dessa is obsessed with trains. A friend of ours recently witnessed her obsession and said, "Wow, I thought only little boys were all about the trains."

It's been a long time since I got excited about the fall back to school season. However, now I'm very conscious that one day soon I'll be back in the back to school swing of things. You're probably thinking, "¡Loca! Dessa is only two! You've got plenty of time." I thought so too, until someone brought it to my attention that we have to start making school choices sooner than we think.

About a month ago, we went on a family outing to the zoo. Dessa wanted to see the monkeys so we headed over to them while papi hung back with Farrah. When we got to the monkeys there were two little boys watching their antics alongside their mami's. When I said something to Dessa in Spanish, one of the moms noticed and told me she thought it was great I was teaching her another language. She encouraged her little boy to say "Hola," one of a handful of Spanish words her son was familiar with.

Something happened the other night and it made me think it was time for some Mami Confessions. I'm not a perfect parent and I never claim to be. I do my best and most of the time I think I do all right. But after the other night, all I can think to myself is, "What the f--k was I thinking?" So here I'll share my little parenting mishap and hopefully you'll share yours. It's nice to pat each other on the back but really nice to know we all make mistakes. Here goes.
