With the snow falling steadily outside, we're getting ready in my house for some serious crafting. We're breaking out the construction paper, glue, crayons, markers, old paper towel rolls, old magazines—anything and everything to pass the time. This time of year is my favorite for crafting, mainly because I'm really good at drawing and cutting hearts (other shapes elude me!). We'll be making valentines for all the special people in our lives.

It's only February and summer is (or at least feels) a lifetime away. With the holidays over, we find our family has a lot more free time. But just because there's less to do does not mean we're ready to settle into hibernation for the remainder of these chilly days. I'm all about getting the kids out of the house at least once a day. I believe it's necessary for their, and my, sanity, not to mention it's important for them to do a little exercise and expend some energy.

I'm putting out an SOS to any and all mamis who will listen. It's been 8.5 months since I had Farrah and I'm overdue on making a decision on a pretty big issue. With a toddler and baby keeping us on our toes and exhausted, we're pretty sure we're done with having kids for the moment. We can't say if we're done for good but for right now we're capping it at two kids, at least until our lives settle down a bit. So, the big question is: What kind of contraception to use?

Jessica Alba has gotten lots of flack in the past for some of her supposed comments on her heritage. I feel for her because she gets criticized for speaking her mind. In a recent interview, Jessica revealed that she's hired a professional Spanish tutor to ensure that both she and her daughter learn the language.

The other day we went to Barnes and Noble. Dessa played with a little girl in the children's book section and then the little girl had to leave with her mom. Dessa and I waved good-bye and my toddler asked me, "¿Donde va ella?" I told her in Spanish that the little girl was headed home.
Dessa asked, "¿Porque?"
I told her because she was hungry and wanted to eat.
Dessa asked, "¿Porque?"
I told her because she had worked up an appetite playing.

I recently came across "Le Knockout" collection from Kim Kovel while surfing the glorious world wide web. It's a keepsake line which takes the tooth fairy to a whole other level. When your baby loses their first tooth, Ms. Kovel (a mommy herself) will cast it in gold or silver and engrave their initials on it so you can turn a major milestone into as a cute charm. If you're feeling extra blingy, you can even add a diamond! Check it out:

My little baby isn't so little any more! Just last week Farrah turned 8 months and ever since, she's been crossing off milestones left and right. In case you were wondering:
1. She has mastered the art of the crawl. She used to scoot around the house but it quickly morphed into a full on crawl—she now moves at alaming speeds.
2. I can barely believe it but she cruises around the house already! She pushes a little wagon back and forth, it's not a quick stroll, but rather confident and joyous.

Growing up, "frugal" wasn't a term my family used a lot. We took trips to Disney every year, were extravagant gift givers and kept up with the Jones's to a certain extent—all on a middle class income. But nowadays, with all this talk of, "Recession this, frugal that," it's really become all about the bargain. And I've got to be honest, it is tough for me. I used to like to shop for myself (who doesn't?), but I really love shopping for my girls. I could do nothing else all day long and I would if money grew on trees.

Drum roll, please...
We now officially have a potty-trained toddler!
Dessa basically figured out how to use the potty all on her own and spent several months using the toilet at home. Then the holidays rolled around and we decided it was too much of a bother to complete the task of potty training so we continued letting her use diapers when we went out. But three weeks ago, I saw a little girl Dessa's age using the potty while we were out and about and it hit me then that we were being lazy. I immediately pulled the trigger and said bye-bye to diapers that very same day.
