this year, Disney will be releasing The Princess and the Frog. It will
be the first Disney movie with an African American princess! Before her, there were two other brown princesses: Mulan and Pocahontas. I'm as excited as the next person for young
African American girls to have a Disney character all their own that looks like them and that they can relate to. However, when can little Latina kiddies get some love? Where's Princess Maria!?!
up, I always looked for images of females with which I could identify. There was a bit of a shortage of Latinas, so I pretty much resigned myself to settling for any
brunette—Kelly Kapowski and Samantha Micelli come to mind. Luckily, Dessa and
Farrah have a lot more famous Latinas who have succeeded and look like
them. But what about in these beginning years when they can't catch the latest Rosario Dawson or Penélope Cruz flick? Or before they can appreciate the wonder that is J. Lo's On the 6? They're not
quite old enough for some of the Disney shows—cartoons are still right up their alley. Yeah, we have Dora, but how about
