Shia LaBeouf sat down recently with Playboy magazine and made some, um, interesting comments with regards to his mom. "Probably the sexiest woman I know is my mother," LaBeouf said, "She's an ethereal angel. Nobody looks like that woman. If I could meet my mother and marry her, I would. I would be with my mother now, if she weren't my mother, as sick as that sounds."
I know there are a lot of men consider themselves "mama's boys" so I'm not going to pass judgment. His statement just got me thinking about the fact that this might be the end of the baby making road for my family, and I wonder if I'll be missing out on having my own mama's boy.
Girls are so vastly different. They're fiercely independent and strong willed. They want their way. They want to do it themselves. They want space. They want to be you 50% of the time and anything but the rest of the time. Daughters and mothers may be super close but they will never really be a "mama's girl."
Mama's boys, on the other hand, are like knights in shining armor who will protect and be loyal to their mother through thick and thin. They'll do anything to protect her honor. Girls are meant to be "daddy's little girls" which leaves mom as what?
I'd love to know about your experiences as a parent if you have boys or boys and girls. I think it's fascinating how different the relationships are between parents and children of different sexes. What have you noticed about the difference in raising little boys versus little girls?
