I felt the same kind of self-imposed pressure surrounding my trip last week to New York. I had seven days to record my new #LatinoProblems advice segment on NPR's Latino USA show with Maria Hinajosa (stay tuned for the debut date), visit Latina offices for a headshot, and a tennis tournament and two speaking engagements to prep for at the LATISM (Latinos in Tech Innovation and Social Media) conference. So I planned. And I over-planned. And finally I realized planning wasn't going to do me any good if I didn't slow down enough to just let things happen as they are meant to.
My schedule was changed multiple times, giving me heart palpitations. I missed the tennis tournament, felt overwhelmed at times, and didn't know if I was coming or going. I had made a schedule. I had planned my days. I was supposed to fit everything I needed to do exactly as planned in the limited time available. But, of course, life doesn't work that way.
