The Great Milky Way

And no, I'm not talking about our galaxy here. I'm talking about those delicious (evil?) chocolate candy bars that tempted me into breaking my diet. I know that most people on diets end up cheating in some form or another. They'll maybe eat something they're not supposed to, or will skip a workout. I don't think of it as cheating, though. I call it giving in to my craving, but I NEVER overindulge in these diet-busters.
It was just one of those days at work. There were too many deadlines, phone calls and emails. I felt overwhelmed. All I wanted to do was hit D3 on the vending machine and get that Snickers bar! The chocolate, peanuts and caramel would make the stress go away, right? But as I slipped my dollar into the vending machine, I caught a flashback of all the hard work I’ve put in this past year. I wasn't going to give that up for a measly 280 Calories.
I hurried off to a meeting, and what did I see sitting in the conference room? Fun-sized Milky Way bars, 3 Musketeers, Snickers and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. My co-worker must have known I was having a bad day! I couldn't resist and ate two small Milky Way bars. And you know what? I felt better instead of guilty afterwards. Normally, I would have eaten way more than that. But I didn't go crazy and my craving was gone! I obviously can't satisfy every little craving, and I certainly can't make a habit out of breaking my diet. But I'm not gonna sit around and beat myself up about it. I'm just going to go forward and keep working toward my goals.
How do you all handle little slip-ups in your diet?
