Latina Beauty and Fashion Director, Angelique Serrano, will be on The Early Show (CBS) tomorrow for their Firm It Up series. The show has been focusing on a different body part everyday this week, and a fitness and fashion expert comes on to talk about celebs who look great, the best workouts for that particular area, and how to dress to accentuate said body part.

Wishful Thinking
By Jazmin Perez | 03/20/2009 - 16:15

One of the perks of working here is that we occasionally get to meet famous people—sometimes at an event, but most of the time at our offices. Today a few staffers were thinking: ‘Which non-Latino actor do we dream of paying us a visit?"  Check out our top three picks:

1) Clive Owen: He inspired us to start this conversation, plus we hear he’s filming a movie in Colombia.

2) James Franco: He’s funny, smart, and lives in NYC, just like us! He could just pop in one day between classes at NYU.

Ding Ding
By Jazmin Perez | 03/13/2009 - 14:30

Today we had a "ding ding." Around here, that means the entire edit staff was summoned by the editor-in-chief to the conference room to judge potential cover options for our upcoming June/July issue. The meetings are always fun, not to mention a great opportunity for everyone to be heard.

Sess Appeal
By Jazmin Perez | 03/11/2009 - 14:18

It's always an honor when an artist is inspired by our work and decides to recreate one of our cover images. But we were utterly blown away when Samuel Canales sent us these illustrations of Latina's March 2009 Sessilee Lopez cover. “Just wanted to share my love of Latina,” Canales said in his note. Well, we love you too, Samuel. Check out his work here. This guy is amazing.

The Beauty Awards are Coming!
By Jazmin Perez | 03/06/2009 - 16:30

Latina’s wonderful and talented beauty team has been working feverishly for months picking products for our annual beauty awards. As you can see, there are hundrends of options for them to consider and test. Sounds like fun, but it’s a lot of freakin’ work—you should see them layering on the makeup back there! In fact, they had to use some of the staffers as guinea pigs. We’re talking lotions, serums, mascaras, scrubs, and everything else us women use in an effort to stay young and pretty.

Don Omar’s New Look
By Jazmin Perez | 03/04/2009 - 15:30

We are considering these two promotional photos of Don Omar for an upcoming piece on his new album, iDON, due April 28th. The first single, “Virtual Diva,” is quickly climbing the Latin Billboard charts, so we’re all very happy for the newlywed (he recenlty married Jackie Guerrido in their native Puerto Rico).  Omar's concept for the album is half man, half machine, and we’re having a hard time deciding which of these pictures best illustrates that idea.

What to Wear
By Yuliana Gomez | 02/27/2009 - 15:00

Please help! I’m going to a wedding this weekend (it’s more like a
wedding cocktail party, the adorable couple actually tied the knot in a
fairy-tale-esque 13th century church in Italy a few months ago). I’m
not sure what to wear, though.

Shady Business
By Jazmin Perez | 02/25/2009 - 17:07

A group of us were in the fashion closet debating what sunglasses to highlight in our upcoming May issue. Of course, we all had different opinions on which shades are Latina worthy, and everyone made good points. However, we all agreed on one thing: the hottest trend is all about the '80s. With that, we chose our three favorite pairs.  The Jimmy Choo’s (image 1) are Robo Cop meets fashionista. The Versace’s (image 2) are hippie-glam, and then there’s the classic-yet-funky DSquare shades (image 3).
