She Bangs

After months of consideration, I did it—I got bangs. I was inspired by a picture of Camilla Belle that ran in the February 2009 issue of Latina, and had been carrying it around with me ever since. The idea of cutting my hair was nerve racking because I hadn’t had bangs since the first grade, but luckily for me, I was in the hands of Antonio Rosa, owner of Senses New York Salon & Spa. Antonio came highly recommended and has 13 years of experience as a professional hairstylist, colorist, and makeup artist at several top salons, but more importantly, I trust him.

Rosa was “surprised and inspired” after I showed him the ripped out magazine page and immediately got to work. Once my highlights were done, he took into consideration my hair texture and frame of my face before he carefully parted the front of my hair and started cutting. After a few snips, he blow-dried the bangs to make sure they were the right length; by this point I was already pleased with what I saw. He then blew out the rest of my hair, and went back to perfect the bangs. I was transformed, and it felt good. Maintenance is a big concern for me, so when I asked him what I needed to do he said, “please don’t trim your bangs yourself, come in every 2-3 weeks for a bang trim…they’re always complimentary for clients.” Hey, sounds easy to me—maybe I’ll keep this look going longer that I originally planned. So, what do you think?
