When I was a little girl, I spent many nights in the quiet darkness of my backyard, peering through my telescope. Night after night, I stared at the moon and the stars that blanketed the dark Pennsylvania sky I grew up under.

Fast-forward twenty years and as a New Yorker, I rarely see the stars. The bright lights of the big city shine too bright. But I know that they're still there and every so often it seems they’re aligned just right. I've got an exciting new job opportunity around the corner, a sweet new apartment I’m moving into, family and friends that love and support me and a guy in my life who seems just right. This single mujer in Manhattan couldn't really ask for anything more.

On that note, I have to say goodbye to writing the The Hookup. It's been so much fun, but it's time for me to focus on new goals. Though I don’t have a crystal ball to see what the future holds, I know that savoring the present and all the gifts I have right now is the best way to live and love.

I wanted to leave you with the most important thing I've learned about love and dating: All the ups, downs and in-betweens that come along with the search for Mr. Right are truly worth it, and every risk you take brings you one step closer to understanding who you really are.

I thank my lucky stars—both the ones who walk right beside me and the ones I used to examine through a telescope as a child—and I wish all of you chicas the very best when it comes to life and love. Thanks for always giving me such great advice and feedback!
