Cloud Nine

Since planting a kiss on The Performer, I was on cloud nine. Not because I was fantasizing about my future wedding and mini-Sujeirys. On the contrary, I hadn't had a single dreamy thought. But because I was loving the new me! Then came a test. My phone rang. I didn't recognize the number but picked up anyway.

"Its Shaquan. What up gurl?!" He responded in a high-pitched voice. I laughed and shook my head, immediately aware that it was The Performer.

"Hey, how are you?" I asked.

"I'm good, child. Here with all these damn kids!" He said as Shaquan.

I laughed again. "I know its you! So dime."

"I want to perform in your next show," he said a little more serious now. A business call, I thought.

"I'll put you down for comedy," I replied as I wrote his name down on a pad.

"So, what was up with that unexpected kiss?" He asked nonchalantly.

“I can be a bit impulsive and I felt like kissing you. You're kind of cute…" I flirted.

"We should hang out sometime," he said.

And there it was again. A dateless invitation to "hang." "Why don’t you call me when it’s not about business and ask me out on an official date," I replied.

"’re a little demanding aren’t you?"

"I don't think I'm asking for much," I replied, stronger than ever. The new me knew what she wanted, and that was to be wined and dined. There would be no fantasizing before The Performer or any man took action. Cloud 9 just isn’t much fun without it!
