Here’s yet another reason to head to Las Vegas this year: starting today through 2010, Carlos Santana will treat visitors to his new rock residency at the recently remodeled The Joint venue at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Appropriately titled Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits, the show will feature a mix of classics reaching back as far as the band’s first charting single “Jingo” (1969) all the way up to more recent hits such as “Into The Night.”
Accompanied by his banda—members Chester Thompson (keyboards), Karl Perazzo (timbales), Benny Rietveld (bass), Dennis Chambers (drums), Raul Rekow (congas), Andy Vargas (vocals), Tony Lindsay (vocals), Tommy Anthony (rhythm guitar), Jeff Cressman (trombone) and Bill Ortiz (trumpet)—the spiritual guitar hero joins the ranks of Celine Dion, Cher, and Bette Midler as a Sin City resident. Expect nothing but the best, since the man behind the stage design is Frank The Plumber, who recently oversaw Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour set.
Santana, who was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in ‘98 and has since been recognized by Rolling Stone as among the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” will play approximately 36 shows per year at The Joint (all starting at 9 p.m.). Prices range from $79-$299 and can be purchased at the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000.
