Rudo y Cursi Soundtrack

I have only one thing to say today: it’s Cinco de Mayo and you should be somewhere downing a pitcher of that magical drink known as la margarita. After you stumble home, download the Rudo y Cursi soundtrack, which is out today on iTunes (the physical release is June 9th). With tracks by Juana Molina, Mexican Institute of Sound, Nortec Collective, Mexican rapera Niña Dioz (whom I hadn’t heard of before but am now obsessed with), and, of course, Gael Garcia Bernal’s own folksy version of “Quiero Que Me Quieras” (a remake of Cheap Trick’s original “I Want You To Want Me”), it’s pretty much amazing. Just like our boys, Diego Luna and Gael.
