It’s been raining a lot lately and it has come to my attention that, whenever this happens, I play Kings of Leon excessively at high volumes and wear a lot of black turtlenecks. To my co-workers, my sincere apologies. But here’s how I’m making up for it: by playing some totally sunny, 80s-inspired, electro-pop from Belanova’s just-released Tour Fantasia Pop CD/DVD!
I’ve been a big supporter of the trio (my fave of whom is, of course, the forever fashion-forward Denisse). And it seems I’m not alone—they just won their first Latin Grammy for Best Pop Album By A Duo Or Group in Houston last month. Tour Fantasia Pop captures the mania that is a Belanova concert in their native Mexico as well as the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the rest of Central America. Basically, picture lots of screaming tweens in bright tights and patent leather platforms trying to impersonate Denisse, some technicolor mushrooms and blown-up teddy bears and you’re there. Or check it out for yourself on the DVD featuring behind-the-scenes commentaries from the members and concert footage. That seriously beats the hell out of a rainy day.
