I was walking down the halls here in the Latina offices, dragging my feet to the kitchen to get some much-needed caffeine, when I saw a coworker’s hair from behind. Her usually fine, straight hair was tousled and voluminous, her blonde highlights positively glistening in the morning light. I passed right by the kitchen and walked up to her, fawning and fluffing her strands, begging her to tell me how she got these rock star results.

This morning I had in front of me Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm ($12, malinandgoetz.com), a joint effort between the cheeky bath and body company and 10 Cane Rum. Now I don’t know about you, but when I see a product with the words "mojito" and "rum" in the mix, I think it’s going to have some kick.

Dear Paulina Rubio,
So about that crown you wore on your head during your performance en los Premios Juventud: Were you attempting to accessorily cement your position as the Queen of Pop, or convey your diehard love of the flame-broiled Whopper? Because I seriously think I wore that same crown during my sixth birthday party at Burger King.
Someone Who Means Well

Today I used my favorite blush in the whole wide world: Benefit Dandelion ($28, benefitcosmetics.com). It’s the prettiest pink powder that gives a subtle, yet perky flush to fair-to-caramel skin tones. It’s easy, it’s dependable, it never fails me. But I’ve been so busy testing out other products that I’d forgotten about it for months.

As anyone who shuffles between two residences knows, having two sets of want-to-wear clothes and two sets of essential grooming items is tough. For me, as I pack-and-ride between my NYC apartment and my boyfriend’s condo outside the city, it’s inevitable that I always want something I’ve left behind in my other home. That dress I wanted to wear on Monday? I left it in my apartment closet. My favorite liquid eyeliner that gives me an Angelina Jolie-like look? It’s in my boyfriend’s bathroom.

I have now seen three super-stylish women sporting sky-blue nail polish in the past two weeks. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first because usually I keep my nails bathed in deep, dark shades like black, purple, burgundy and navy. But there’s something about this blue; this twinkling, fair-weather, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky blue is just too happy, too refreshing, too pretty to resist! If you’re not with me yet, check out OPI nail polish in No Room for the Blues (opi.com).

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve lost my liking for strong scents—especially in the shower. One time, I used this in-shower vaporizer thing and I got so nauseas I had to get out of the tub and run out into my kitchen naked just so I wouldn’t vomit. Ugh. But—of course, there’s a “but” here—I am really enjoying the lush floral scent infused into all of the Daisy Fuentes Style Pro hair products. The shampoo is so luxurious and rich, and the smell surrounds you when you lather up; it’s a wonderfully girlie mix of orchid, rose and other pretty buds.

I just had one of the best haircut experiences of my life, thanks in no small part to the hour at which I was able to make my appointment: 8:00 p.m. Red Market Salon in the meatpacking district of New York City is a late-night beauty destination that caters to the long-hour workforce, as well as hard partying night owls.

I’m turning 30 in exactly 38 days. And I’ve become obsessed with the following things: hemlines (I ask myself: Is my skirt too short for a 30-year-old?), colorful cartoonish patterns (Can I still wear a yellow pineapple-print dress?) and crow’s feet. The first two superficial issues I am muddling through; the third is puzzling. I am finding that most creams and lotions that advertise an “instant lift” to the eye area are full of sh—well, they’re full of ingredients that still leave my under-eye skin dark and sagging and wrinkly.

I hate getting pedicures, which is a little weird as a beauty editor. But check
out my new source of inspiration. These feet (above) belong to a coworker of mine here at Latina. I literally stopped this girl in the halls because
her feet were the prettiest things I had ever seen. I proceeded to follow her
into the kitchen, into offices, just to get another glimpse at her feet. I can’t
get enough of these tangerine toes tucked into these periwinkle sandals! The two colors go together like rice and beans, and I’m about to buy the polish so I can cop this chica’s style.
