So I was in recovery all week from my eye infection, wearing my dated dark-framed glasses and no makeup every day. I was not feeling particularly cute separated from my darling mascaras, so I had to compensate somehow. And I did, with tons of glistening lipgloss and bright, poppy pink blush. Which lead to my now near maniacal dependency on Clinique Quick Blush in Pronto Pink ($22, clinique.com). It is a cosmetics brush with blush built into the cap. All you do is twist the base of the brush, so the bristles rise up into the cap, rubbing against the enclosed cheek powder.

How cute does Eva Mendes look in her red leopard-print dress and big statement headband? The wide black satin band is chic and the stones are just the right touch of trendy. I think it totally shows off her cheeky, take-chances personality and adds a bit of much-needed whimsy to the Venice Film Festival red carpet, where she was photographed. Tell me dear readers, are you feeling her style here?

So I have an eye infection. And it hurts. A lot. But what perhaps hurts the most is the cosmetic fallout from the infection. I have to get rid of every piece of makeup that has come near my eye for the past two weeks. I know! It’s my first eye infection—maybe that’s why I’m taking the news so hard. But I have to do it.

Since I went blonde a few months ago (mental note: book touch-up
appointment) I’ve become more open to the idea of outward
transformation. However, almost simultaneously, upon turning 30, I’ve
also become more leery of trying trendy-trends on a whim. So how to reconcile the two? I don’t want to get stuck in a style rut, but I
don’t want to indulge every new fad that comes my way. You can get away
with that impulsiveness in your 20s; you’re young, you’ll be forgiven
for that glittery smoky eye.

I loved snap bracelets and blazing the Oregon Trail in computer class, I loved the Fresh Prince and Mr. Miyagi; the '80s were awesome in every way—psych! They were so not! I wore red lipstick with turquoise eye shadow and a side ponytail, all at the same time, and I thought I was the raddest girl in the whole world. Now I’m just mortified that photographic evidence of this style moment exists.

I love Greek yogurt. I had it for breakfast today with honey. That reminded me of the time I put yogurt in my hair. It was vanilla flavored, so my strands smelled sweet the whole rest of the day. It’s a fantastic conditioning treatment that’ll leave your hair soft and smooth. You know, if you’re ever in a pinch…

One of the biggest addictions I’ve succumbed to since becoming a beauty director has been to mascara. If I do nothing else in the morning—as is often the case—I put on mascara. And I have the extreme honor to try many different brands so I can report on only the best for you readers. And boy have I stumbled upon a gem: Being True Hy-Performance Mascara ($22, beingtrue.com).

I can’t be mad at this trend; I’m a part of it. Going blonde for the summer has always been a popular choice, and who am I to say who can and can’t pull it off? Wait a minute…this is my blog..I can totally say who can or can’t pull it off!
Jessica Alba: A. This ashier, almost light-brown shade is a much more flattering fit for you than your past brushes with Barbie blonde.

It’s not every day I get to talk to a celebrity, let alone one as gorgeous as Dania Ramirez. And I’m not just talking about her outward beauty; this bronze-skinned actress is a beautiful vibrant soul, just as pretty on the inside as she is out. On a day packed with interviews regarding her latest appointment as the newest face of Cover Girl cosmetics, Dania took the time to chat with us about how thrilled she is to now play with makeup for a living.
