I made three New Year resolutions. One: To do charity work; that’s a work in progress. Second: To strengthen my core; I’ve since done zero sit-ups, but did run two miles two weekends ago. So that one’s well under way. The third was to take care of my nails. I hate getting manicures. But I’m tired of people commenting on my raggedy cuticles and uneven, unpolished nails. So I painted them myself on Friday with this new OPI shade—I can’t talk about this drool-worthy deep black-purple hue yet, but I will in our August issue! I started with a base coat, then two coats of color then topped with Orly Sec n Dry ($9). I know it’s an expensive top coat, but by re-polishing my tips and topping with this clear fast-dry coat every morning, I have been able to maintain what looks remarkably like a salon manicure for an entire week, all by myself, and with minimal effort! And I’ve actually wanted to! The nails look that good.
