Nightmares of Nail Glue

I love my aunts. I have three. And I have memories of one that center around her nails. When I was a tween, this aunt loved to give me beauty advice. She fancied herself an amateur model in her younger years and relished sharing her wisdom with her only niece. She would cut my bangs, brush my hair, lecture me about not biting my cuticles, etc. Nails were a big thing with her. She had hers long and painted all the time. And whenever one long oval nail started splitting on the side, she would glue it—with Krazy Glue. Once dry, she would file the hardened glue down and then paint over the nail; but most times the bumpy finish would give her away. The whole thing kinda grossed me out, but I admit I’ve tried it once or twice. So when the 5 Second Brush On Nail Glue ($4) crossed my desk, amid vivid flashbacks, I opened the tube to try it. And then I stopped. I can’t bring myself to embrace it, chicas, but I’m biased. So give it a whirl—and then report back, por favor!
