Dear Paulina Rubio

You are my girl crush. Since I was 13 years old I’ve danced to your cassettes. “Mio” was my anthem. I used to tape your appearances on the Univision Sunday night program, Siempre en Domingo. Remember when you used to wear gold superhero costumes and bleach your hair? Well, actually, you still do. Anyway, we met once. It was at New York Fashion week 2004. You were at a fashion show, I was reporting on the show. I left the tents in a cab then saw you on the corner of the street with your crew hailing a cab. I asked my driver to pull over and I gave you my cab. You invited me to a party, I declined, but for the life of me I can't figure out why. And you gave me a kiss on the cheek as a thank you. And you know what I remember most about that day? Your hair. It was gold; bright, shiny, 24 karat gold. Bueno, chica dorada you continue to inspire me. And so, in approximately two weeks I have an appointment with a colorist. I’m going blonde!
