Barely Known Brand Makes Barely Beatable Mascara

One of the biggest addictions I’ve succumbed to since becoming a beauty director has been to mascara. If I do nothing else in the morning—as is often the case—I put on mascara. And I have the extreme honor to try many different brands so I can report on only the best for you readers. And boy have I stumbled upon a gem: Being True Hy-Performance Mascara ($22, beingtrue.com).

First of all, I love the mascara brush; it is plastic and slim, and when you pull it out of the tube you never get any excess ink oozing out. The brush comes out clean every time. What a pleasure! Then it only takes me about five to eight strokes with the wand to get my lashes standing up at attention. The brush helps separate each lash while the formula lengthens. There’s also jojoba seed oil to moisturize and a glossing agent to amp up the shine. When I use it, I don’t need to use a curler, a primer—nothing else! I have even applied it on the go, without a mirror, to spectacular results.
