Baby's Bottom Line

If there is one thing I cannot wait to be rid of, it is diapers. Potty training is moving along well with Dessa (more on that soon) but we've got a five-month-old which means there's a long road ahead before we are diaper free. Sure, I could try elimination communication (aka EC) but I really just don't think I'm cut out for it.
We've used disposable diapers with Dessa since she was born. We used Pampers for about 6 months, then switched to the eco-friendly Seventh Generation brand. Since starting potty training a couple of months ago, we've gone back to Pampers. I figure we're using way less now so our environmental impact isn't as bad.
Cloth diapers keep creeping into my thoughts though. I love the fact that they are kinder to the environment, I love the idea of natural fibers being close to my daughter's skin and I love that I'd always be put cute, fashionable "undies" on her. So what's holding me back? Laundry. I am not Suzy Homemaker. Our laundry is, quite frankly, always sitting around, waiting to be washed, waiting to be put away.
So what are my options?
- Suck it up and make a go at elimination communication.
- Use cloth diapers and somehow force myself to do laundry on a more regular basis.
- Go hybrid with gDiapers
Let's just say my husband did not marry me for my domestic skills and since neither my hubby nor I want poopy diapers lying around, we're considering a hybrid system using gDiapers. It's the best of disposables and cloth diapering. There is a cotton gPant into which you put an insert which acts as the absorbing material. The insert can be flushed, trashed or composted. Or you can get cloth inserts which are washable and reusable. I've heard some parents do a little of both—disposables when they're out and cloth when they're home. I'm about 90% sold on it, now I just need to get my husband on board.
Anyone out there use cloth diapers or tried gDiapers? I'm in need of some encouragement that it's possible to move on from disposables!

I saw them and while they're very colorful and pretty my son has enough laundry as it is the last thing I need is to wash diapers especially if they're #2 ones. I alternate between pampers baby dry and huggies both are good and walmart and target always have sales. It's your choice but I would stick to the disposable especially if you don't like piles of laundry and most of us don't like to do laundry.
