Wet Hot Lesbian Summer

The other night my girl Angie and I were hanging out and talking about how excited we are about the summer! Summer in the city is always an adventure—New Yorkers come out of hibernation and there's always tons of street fairs and free concerts. People go out more, date more and by the end of summer you inevitably are left with some hysterical and unforgettable stories.
While candidly reminiscing about the our crazy boy stories from last summer, we realized that we're once again heading into the season as single women. That's when Angie turned to me and said something I wasn't expecting to hear:
"I think I'm going to be a lesbian this summer."
"What are you talking about?!" I laughed incredulously.
"Well, I’m sick of guys.," she explained, "It's always the same old story, and I seriously feel like forgetting about them for a bit and trying something new," she said matter-of-factly.
Now, deep down, Angie doesn’t really want to become a lesbian, but she did mention that visiting some of the city's lesbian clubs and dancing with cute girls is always a blast. Hmm, after I thought about it for a second I realized a change of scenery may not be a bad idea at all.
We decided right then and there that we'll soon make plans to go dancing—with the ladies.
Do you plan to do something different this summer? Perhaps, change up the scenery a bit?

I have to admit my unbelievable disappointment and genuine disgust with this entry. I agree w/the others who have commented, you can't just "become" a lesbian, or bisexual, for that matter. To believe or perpetuate the myth that all lesbians or bi mujeres are just biding their time waiting for "Mr. Right" is terribly disrespectful to your hermanas who are queer. (And that's exactly what you're doing here, btw) Por favor, do not try wearing my sexuality for a summer like the f-ing maxi dress trend. I honestly expect more respect and understanding from Latina bloggers and magazine. I'm all for trying out new places, but please, leave the "lesbian for a summer" in the bad idea bin.

Wow Sarita, I agree with fruxforte, all the ladies in there will see you coming a mile away. Although she was a bit on the defensive side, people are born gay, you and your friend are forgetting something. Gay, straight, bi, transgender, they are people. :) Find a hobby for the summer instead.

We don't want breeder whores like you in our clubs.
People don't just 'go gay' for shits and giggles. People are born gay, straight, bisexual, or asexual. What, now that homosexuality is becoming acceptable for the first time in thousands of years you think you'll be all trendy and dance slightly close to a girl? You trend whore. You attention whore.
You know what you're doing? You're perpetuating stereotypes. You're perpetuating the stereotype that there are no real lesbians-- just straight whores who like to try to turn guys on by playing gay.
You obviously don't understand the gays. You are an enemy to the gay community.

We welcome the conversation this blog post has sparked and believe everyone has the right to vent and share their opinions, but you have to watch your language. Please be respectful of each other and of the writers. No name calling, let's all act like the ladies (and gentlemen) we are. Thank you.

Seriously, that title alone made me want to turn my computer screen to the left so my boss wouldn't see what I was reading. lol.
Although clubbing, drinking and dancing at a couple lesbian bars sounds like a lot of fun-- that doesn't exactly make you a lesbian. lol. I say go out, have fun and try new things-- as in new party places, not necessarily sexual partners. lol.
Have a great Summer and I look forward to reading about the adventures. hahahahhaaha
xoxo
